      Hello,

we've an network with 16 lan segments. I plan to install clustered pfsense firewall. I can't install 4 4-ports nics in the servers.
I can solve the problem by using vlan. but I don't like it.

Is it possible to implement with only two nics and no vlans? I think I can define the lan subnet in firewall rules… Is it possible and recommended?

      Greetings
      Thomas

I assume you want multiple subnets on the same physical layer.
DO.NOT.DO.THAT (you WILL have major problems with that…)

Using VLANs or more NIC's is the recommended way.

We do what we must, because we can.
