What would I need to forward incoming wan dns names to a internal IP? Right now I have 1 application server running on a separate vlan that I am forwarding port 80 to. But soon I will need to run a second server to host a new application.

I've been using A records on my domain to direct them to the server externally.

So everything will be setup as

      app1.domain.com, app2.domain.com. to app server 1

      app3.domain.com to app server 2

Use reverse proxy. You certainly do NOT want to run any DNS server on WAN.
