Backup 4 G wan connection
-
Hi Team,
I have a pfsense running fine with bt infinity.
I am looking at a backup solution for the wan so if tomorrow a bt engineer decides to cut my telephone cable again, I will have a backup.
Can anyone suggest how this can be done as This is also a VPN server where roadwarriors connect to it.
Can anyone advise if they done something similar please?
Cheers,
raj

Checkout multi-wan.

pfSense has very limited support for internal LTE modems. I have found the Sierra MC7700 working.
For multi-WAN just use the 4G connection for other WAN segment. Some users here use a "Verizon Jetpack' type device which handles the connection instead. Much simpler approach but i prefer internal devices.

I was thinking of something similar myself where an external modem like this one connects to the 4G either :
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/tp-link-3g4g-single-band-n150-portable-wireless-n-router-n40ql
or
http://shop.ee.co.uk/dongles/pay-monthly-mobile-broadband/osprey-black-from-ee/detailsThe question is how I can get the roadwarrior clients that use the primary link to connect.
The ip address of the 4G is most likely dynamic so hence the question if anyone has done something similar.
