PFSense LAN disconnecting



  • Hello all,
    I have been using a custom built PFSense box for about 8 months now. I recently upgraded to 2.2 (from 2.1.5) and I have been experiencing frequent LAN disconnection sometimes it drops the connection after 10 minutes and sometimes it drops after 2 days. From my experience the only way to reestablish the connection is to restart the box itself. When the connection is dropped I can get on the pfsense box and I'm still able to ping the gateway iPhone address from our ISP as well as various other websites. I have also tried reverting back to 2.1.5 but the problem still exists. My hardware is:
    -Intel core i3-3240
    -Asus P8Q77-M/CSM
    -500gb western digital blue
    -Intel quad port 82571EB
    -8gb ram

    My network is set up as follows:
    |Motorola |
    |surfboard|–-----> |pfsense box|------> switch
    |SB6121    |

    Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Bad cable?
    Bad port(NIC or switch)?

    Have you tried re-plugging the network cable instead of a reboot?

    Have you tried swapping ports on your firewall?
