Poetic justice: Can't wait.

I can't wait. They already have billboards up. This one is gonna drive my friends in the big cities nuts.
This billboard is in a town of about 1400 people, and it's in a county of just over 1500 people. Drive down that road and you go almost 200 miles before you can see the homes of more than 1000 people all at the same time. Across the river is my town, 15k people. The only larger town in the county, and for a lot of miles in any direction.
A surprising amount of farmland will supposedly get gigabit from this.
It's not just the cities people.
8)Darnit! It's upside down. That's what you get for being left handed.

Gigabit is spreading faster than I initially expected.
Here in Austin we're seeing the effects of Google Fiber. AT&T brought up their FTTH offering, a smaller cable company (Grande) also, Time Warner upped their offerings to up to 325 Mb. Still, we're the only city in the US with multiple residential gigabit providers, and today at least only a minority can get any of the FTTH options though it's spreading quickly. You see trucks all over the place here running fiber. Competition is a good thing. AT&T and Time Warner at least wouldn't have ever moved so quickly if it weren't for Google Fiber. Grande covers such a relatively small portion of the city that it's not a significant competitor. They already had some FTTH when Google announced.

As a fellow leftie, I feel your pain. But there are applications these days that can edit pictures. ;)

We've only gained access to gigabit in the past year, but it's way too unaffordable around $500.

If I had access to a linux box right now I'd rotate it and scale it down. I'm on a mac though and android. Both of those automagically rotate the image correctly.
Yeah I'm a bit old school.

Lucky duck… :)
Maybe I am accustomed to being abused by my ISP, but anything faster than dial-up makes me happy.

I am on the east coast in the Norfolk area and we are seeing nothing like this yet… My parents in Florida are still blocked at the last mile with no high speed service except satellite.
We have been paying into the government mandated fees like UCF and USF and getting squat. Wonder why we are so low on list of internet speeds by country? Corruption cut and dry. Tiny municipality commissions giving monopoly powers across my front yard to megacorps.

I think with the recent FCC stuff we are in for a rough ride ahead…The government likes to use adverse situations to interject it self right through the front door. we will lose.

Oh come on… nothing involving politics is cut and dry. Anyone who claims such is instantly suspect in my book.
but yeah, that is probably part of the problem, along with population density and a hundreds of other factors I am ignorant of.

OK i will concede "cut and dry" may be much, but contributing factor at least. When i was in High School i did a report about this and wonder if it helped.

I think this article nails the case. they have my market at #1 checkmated by Verizon. Totally correct as well.
