Routed /29 subnet via PPOe
-
Hi,
I just finished my pfsense setup with Multi wan and two lan subnets and everything is working fine.
I just found out that my ISP offers a new option to obtain a /29 routed subnet for less than 10 euros a month.
This sounds like a great deal, so I am wondering if Pfsense would support such a setup.
Searching the web I found some suggestions on using virtual IP's to achieve this.
However some mention that the WAN interface should have a static address.
My ISP delivers my ip address (and in future the routed /29) via DHCP over PPOe.
Is such a setup supported in pfsense ?

Buy; Try; Keep || End ?
I think with the PPPoE you get a semi-static on WAN ? Or does it change frequently ?

No, I get a static IPv4 and a static ::/48
But obtained using DHCP and DHCP PD.

There is no problem doing what you mention.
Wan will get its ipv4 probably via pppoe negotiation.
DHCP could also work, (for ipv6 mainly). The /29 subnet is defined on http://x.x.x.x/firewall_virtual_ip_edit.php?id=0
And then can be used via NAT 1:1:
General firewall and natting rules apply, so you can adjust according to needs
If you need ports from the public ip to reach 1:1 natted machine , these have to be defined with the internal private ip as target.Works great!

Or put the /29 on OPTX and don't NAT at all.

Thanks guys, going to enable the option and play around with it.
