      Hello

      Version: 2.2-RELEASE  (i386)

I have just setup PFSense on a old 1u server. The motherboard is a "Supermicro P4SGE" the onboard network controller is a "Dual Intel 82540EM".

The problem I am having is the "Dual Intel 82540EM" is not showing as a available interface, but from what I can see the card is supported by FreeBSD 10.1-RELEASE

I have the driver for FreeBSD but cant use the make command. (em-7.4.2.tar.gz)

Is there anything i am missing or can try?

Can you boot another OS that supports the card, like some flavor of linux, and be sure the mobo and Ethernet card are functioning properly?

Cool - I suspected it was either turned off in bios or broken.  Glad you found it.
