I am using DHCP Server together with an external DNS Server (bind 9.9). I missed in pfsense the option to replace the client supplied hostname with a better one (like from android-9e234dc to mygalaxy), when registering in DNS. I know, there is a "hostname" field within the static mapping screen, but this option not ment to do this.

i added the needed "ddns-hostname" option field for myself (https://github.com/Tommi2Day/pfsense/tree/dhcp_ddns-hostname) and it works fine for me, but maybe another approach fits better

BTW: the reverse dns zone adding doesn't work well, if the netmask is greater than /24. Only the first reverse zone is added, but there should be more.
Example: Network 192.168.100.0/23 needs to update reverse zones 100.168.192.in-addr.arpa and 101.168.192.in-addr.arpa
