Hello, I'm shopping for hardware for a dedicated pfsense router/VPN solution for home use, and found the Advantech FWA-710e on eBay. I'm trying to stay under $150 ($200 Canadian).
This will be my first real pfsense setup, and was wondering if (among other things) this unit with a Celeron M 1.5GHz is capable enough for running OpenVPN to PIA without crippling my 25/10 (soon to be 50/10) DSL connection. My current Asus n66 with ddwrt obviously isn't up to the task. It has served me well, but will be turned into an AP.
I imagine this unit can handle selective routing to the VPN without any trouble?
Another other option would be to buy a used thin client (maybe an HP t610), which would be much newer and have less power consumption, but having a unit with pfsense already installed does appeal to me. Is the technology in the Advantech unit too "old"? I think it's from 2007.
Any thoughts, suggestions, or help are greatly appreciated!
APU1C READY SYSTEM WITH PFSENSE SOFTWARE(SD CARD) ~CA$282.31
apu1d4 3x LAN / 4 GB DRAM / T40E CPU ~CA$217.00
Both are located in Canada, as I was thinking you would be from there and to hold the
transportation fee small, am I right with this?

I would suggest you to go for ALIX platform, the CPU has AES acceleration which will benefit your OpenVPN encryption.
