      Hi all,

I want to make a full backup of my pfsense machine and then restore it to another identical machine .

The full backup  i do with the shell command /etc/rc.create_full_backup  and it works. After that i want to download the tgz file to my windows pc via
the webgui (via diagnostics –>command prompt-->download.

I did use chrome/firefox and IE (latest versions) I get the message" u want to save the file tgx (93,6 mb)?" I specified a folder and when i look at that folder is the tgz file but only 0 kb....

What do i do wrong ?

      Thanks for u help.

      Peter

Restoring a full backup to another system is not recommended. Installing separately and using a config.xml backup to restore the second unit should be good enough for the vast majority of cases.

Yes i know. But in this case we have also installed packages and if im correct those wont be backup in the config.xml? Right ?

Also the idea is to have the second machine exactly the same as the first one (including the IP and server name) We want to use it as spare (machine number 2 stays offline untill machine number 1 crashed or something bad happend with machine 1)
