Click on VPN->OpenVPN to see this little error message:

Fatal error: Can't use function return value in write context in /usr/local/www/vpn_openvpn_server.php on line 805

To make matters worse the restore from complete backup option in the Firmware menu does not work, so I am stuck with this "upgrade" which prohibits me from managing my OpenVPN configuration.

Please fix this ASAP.  Thank you.

I can't make this error happen on my systems. It was reported here also: https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=92616.0
That error should not happen in PHP 5.5.n
Please look on that thread and give any information about your system that might be useful in replicating the problem and finding a fix.

The upgrade didn't fully complete. Bring up the console, go to option 8, and run:

          chown -R root:wheel /

Then reboot. It'll be fine after booting back up again.
