      Hello everyone.

Please assist us. I have a pfsense 2.0.3. We are experiencing a time out randomly. For example. We will open the pfsense 7am in the morning and anytime after we opened it we will experiencing a time out then we need to reset the switch where the pfsense connected but other server that are connected on the same switch has a reply. Do we need to reformat the pfsense PC? I was thinking to change the LAN Card. Any suggestion and help will greatly appreciated.

      Thank you in advance.

        Hi,

This look like a hardware issue.
        Swap NIC.
        Swap switch.
        Swap cables.

Check system logs hardware activity (NIC up / down ?)

Do not swap pfSense, update to 2.2.2 without going back.

No "help me" PM's please. Use the forum, the community will thank you.
Edit : and where are the logs ??

I already changed the cable before but still the same scenario. I don't think the problem is on the switch because if this the case the other computer that are connected to this network device has a reply on the ping only on the pfsense computer we are encountering on this scenario. I'm already planning to change the NIC. Do you think this will solve the problem?

          Thank you in advance.

Well, if everybody on the switch is doning fine, and one PC isn't, the,n you're close to the solution.
            Problem is:
            That PC
The port on the switch that is being for that PC.

Switch ports on switch to see if it is switch or PC related.

I already done of switching the port of that PC but still the same is happening.

I'm planning to change the NIC. If the still the same I will reformat the pfsense. Please advise if this good solutions.

While you're messing with it, upgrade to at least 2.1.5 if not 2.2.2.

Where power cycling a switch fixes a problem, it's likely a general network problem like an IP conflict on the gateway IP. Before changing NICs, reinstalling things, etc. troubleshoot what's causing the actual problem. Can you ping the LAN IP? Get to the web When you try to reach the LAN IP when things aren't working, what MAC do you end up with in your ARP cache? Any "X is using my IP …" messages in the system log?
