      Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help.

I am trying to set up remote access with IPSEC + L2TP on our pfSense machine, following the instructions detailed here: https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/L2TP/IPsec

Unfortunately, I've not yet managed to get this working.

The Windows 7 VPN client just reports error 809, (…connection could not be established, remote server is not responding...)

I can see in the IPSEC logs that the connection is successfully established, however there isn't much detail available in the L2TP logs to help me debug the problem.

To aid setting this up, i have a created a couple of firewall rules on the pfsense to allow all traffic for external workstation i am testing with.

Below is an extract of the L2TP Raw log.

      Apr 27 18:35:36 l2tps: [l2tp3] using interface l2tp3
      Apr 27 18:35:36 l2tps: [l2tp4] using interface l2tp4
      Apr 27 18:35:36 l2tps: [l2tp5] using interface l2tp5
      Apr 27 18:35:36 l2tps: [l2tp6] using interface l2tp6
      Apr 27 18:35:36 l2tps: [l2tp7] using interface l2tp7
      Apr 27 18:35:36 l2tps: [l2tp8] using interface l2tp8
      Apr 27 18:35:36 l2tps: L2TP: waiting for connection on 0.0.0.0 1701
Apr 27 18:37:07 l2tps: caught fatal signal TERM

      Thanks for your help.

Still no further forward with this, just looking at the log extract above, i'm assuming the 0.0.0.0 address means its listening on all IP's?

        Thanks
