I have Beta 4 (May 8th 2006) running on a PC and I'm thinking of upgrading to the newest version.
Everything has been running sweetly for over a year and if its not broken why fix it, but there are some new features on the newest version I could really use.

Can I upgrade and the installation will keep all the Beta 4 firewall settings?
And is there a guide how to do this?

Superb product - keep up the good work.

Fo saftey reasons backup your config.xml and download the 1.2 release livecd before doing the upgrade. Just in case things break you will be able to recover in minutes. Besides that an upgrade should just work fine usually. The config will be upgraded on the fly and you should not lose any settings. In fact, my home firewall started life on a 0.8something version iirc and was frequently updatet and is now running 1.2 release.
