My T40E firewall box stopped responding via the web guy and ssh the other day.

I have just sourced a serial to USB cable and have been able to connect to it via screen on a Mac.

Now I'm in i can't find anything on how i can diagnose the problem and fix it.

The boot gets to the screenshot attached but i guess my question is what now?

I can ctrl-c to a command line and use the limited set of commands in /bin but no idea how to diagnose what the problem is.

      Any help appreciated.

      Thanks

Clearly your filesystem got broken. Reinstall and restore the config -> definitely the fastest fix.

After a very long time i finally saw this…

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 900 seconds exceeded in /etc/inc/xmlparse.inc on line 84
          Launching the init system... done.
          Initializing.........

Will keep waiting while i go do something else for a while.

+1 that your filesystem got hosed and you probably have some corruption issues.  A reinstall/reconfig is your fastest resolution.  I would also recommend reformatting the storage if that is an option.

Thanks for the replies, anything is an option right now.

After another long wait i got:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 900 seconds exceeded in /etc/inc/xmlparse.inc on line 0
              Starting CRON… done.

So you are probably right, i just don't know what could have caused it which is a shame.

              Better get started.

              Thanks
