I have m0n0wall setup now and it works wonderfully, but pfsense seems more geared towards what I want to do.

I tried setting it up on the same machine as m0n0wall, but ran into a couple problems:

      1. At the console, I sometimes see 'killed' printed when performing operations and things just don't work. Usually trying again works.

      2. NAT just plain doesn't seem to work. I can get the machine working on both the LAN and WAN interfaces, I can get the machine pinging a host on the WAN completely fine and computers can access the web interface from the LAN. Computers on the LAN can even use the pfsense box's DNS server to look up hosts. But none of the LAN computers can actually access hosts on the WAN.

      Any ideas?

pfSense does not work well with 64 megs of ram.

Oh, does it have a significantly larger footprint than m0n0?

That actually might be it, I don't even know how much RAM is in the machine (not much).

Yes.  We are not geared for the same hardware.

If we where, what would be the point of the fork?

Makes sense, thanks again for the help. I'll swap the machine for a Pentium III with some decent amount of RAM and see if things improve.
