ALIX.2D13 DSL Annex-A?

I already bought two ALIX.2D13 with pfsense pre-installed, designed for German market. So If I use the hardware a a DSL modem, I expect the device talks Annex-B as this is standard in Germany.
Unfortunately I found out that in the location for the second device (Spain), there is very often Annex-A in use.Is it somehow possible to use Annex-A on the ALIX.2D13? I am asking because if so, I could tell our provider in Spain, that we don't need a Router. It also would have the benefit that I wouldn't need to cascade the devices with PPoE pass-through.

As it might be just a problem of the OS (Drivers), I want to know if the HARDWARE supports it. You can install on some Annex-B Fritzboxes just a different firmware and then Annex-A is running. It seems to be a combination of hardware compatibility (different frequencies used) and driver compatibility / avaviability.
I only mentioned pfsense preinstalled to make clear which OS we are talking about.

Alix-pfSense is a Firewall-Router, FritzBox is a MoDem-Firewall-Router.And you can use the Alix-pfSense with PPPoE tru a MoDem or Fiber-NTU. [Or USB PPP/3G]
Annex-A or-B is irrelevant for this hardware. -

What shall I understand here? I assumed that the guy has absolutely no idea what he is talking about or he missunderstood my question.

Bonsai. I understand if my statement was not clear. I was assuming you understood the difference between what a modem is and what pfsense is. I suggest reading up a bit on it. Good luck with your project.

There are no cards supported by FreeBSD that would work as a DSL modem, either.
Not only that, but I wouldn't want to plug a precious device worth hundreds of $currency directly into a telco port that routinely gets voltage spikes.
I've seen far, far, far too many pieces of equipment fried by telco wiring (mostly due to lightning strikes) to ever want them near expensive gear. Even with surge protection.
Get a cheapy bridged DSL modem to put in front of it, don't try to converge that function into the firewall. It's not worth it. Unless you're in the business of selling the customer asking for this a lot of hardware and then maybe it might make you lots of money on replacement boards.
