Hey so I just recieved some very bad news today in regards to my internet. Fibre wont be available at my address for atleast another two years.I love my dogs too much and they love the backyard so Im not considering moving for internet. So I have to stick to my crappy ADSL2 connection which has the following speeds:

      http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4408732986

I have looked around and there is no ISP that provides an unlimited connection at the competitve prices or better one than my current ISP (averages $5 a week in a sharehouse of 3 people and we wouldnt mind paying $10 a week for twice the speed)

I have read somewhere that I wont be able to use the combined speed all at once but still use the two connections for seperate tasks.

Can someone please if the set up below is possible

      ADSL Modem 1>
ADSL Modem 2>Pfsense Box configured with OpenVPN with 4 port gigabit ethernet ports (two as WAN1 and WAN2 for adsl modems) and other one as LAN >ASUS wireless AP.

      Basically,

Both Modems connected to WAN1 and WAN2 interface on pfsense box which has OpenVPN configured and one LAN which forwards both the interenet connections to my AP which I can then connect several wired hubs and wireless devices to.

      Help is greatly appreciated

P.S I have been posting in another thread about a Pfsense box that I am building it doesnt include 4 gigabit ports but I dont have the extra ADSL connection so this is more of a theoretical question?

      Thanks in advance

Hey so I did some research and my ISP does provide bonded ADSL2. I might be getting 1 or 2 additional ones not sure yet but will most probably start with one.

        My Question:

        1. Is Pfsense able to act as a bonder or do i need an extra device/bonder placed behind the firewall? If it is possible can someone please guide me to the right links

        Thanks

Better question for your ISP.  Seems they should provide a device that does the bonding.  What do they say?

Have to wait till the morning when the help desk opens.

            On a side note:

Theoretically If I were to use two modems and two adsl2+ connections could I be able to forward them to the AP? I know I wont get twice the speed but having twice the speed for two different tasks sounds appealing.

Again I am just curious at the possibilities of what pfsense has to offer so if anyone is offended by my noob posts I apologize in advance

              You can load balance.

              https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Category:Multi-WAN

You might have problems if both circuits are from the same provider and have the same default gateway.

If they're PPPoE you MIGHT be able to multi-link them.

Much cleaner for the ISP to provide a device that does the black magic and hands off a single WAN to you.

Thanks I will try and look for the relevant information

Can you elaborate? I will definitly be using the same ISP and they give us static ip's, I can ask for alternative gateways, if thats what you mean?

Yes they will PPPoE. I will search the forums on how to do that now

I am hoping they provide me with one at a reasonable price. Will know in the morning.

                Thanks for your help

pfSense sends traffic in Multi-WAN to the gateway, not to the interface so if you get two circuits with the same gateway it can be problematic.  If you can request different gateways that would probably be best but really it depends on their product.

Should I go for this card will it be compatible with pfsense?

Its going to cost too much and might have to wait a bit

                    https://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-wireless-network-card-pceac68

Otherwise there are many $15, $20 tplink cards on ebay that are 2.4ghz but I dont even use 5G all that much and my chromecasts cant connect to it so should i go for the cheaper option?

I just got off the phone with my ISP, I was under the impression that if they had acquired a company that offered the service above they would keep it going, had a 20 minute chat and the guy basically told me to wait two years for Fibre.

There isnt going to be any bonding on the ISP's side so FAIL on my part.

However I will be getting two static external IP's

I will go through the links posted above if I dont find the answers im looking for or dont understand something ill post here.

                      thanks

As far as compatibility is concerned have a look here:
                        https://www.pfsense.org/hardware/#requirements
                        and here:
                        http://www.freebsd.org/releases/10.1R/hardware.html

Please do your part first before asking others "will it work". We have to look it up as well, so can you.
Rule of thumb: the cheaper the less likely it'll work.
