Im using and Intel NUC as pfSense and wanna try out a USB Ethernet converter. But is there a list of what models that will work with pfSense? The easist one for me to get is this model - D-LINK USB 3.0 GIGABIT ADAPTER GR WRLS (DUB-1312) But what are the chances for it will work or not?

I know that the J5 Create JUE130 USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet adapter will work. It uses the axge(4) driver that was included starting with FreeBSD 10.1 (which started being used with pfSense 2.2).

The chipset in that adapter is the Asix AX88179.

A quick search turns up that the DUB-1312 is using the same Asix chipset, so it should also work with pfSense 2.2.x.

Also wanted to note… I'm not using this with pfSense now, I only confirmed that it was recognized and given an interface ID. I personally wouldn't use a USB Ethernet adapter for long-term use, especially if it has "power-saving" features like this one has... those tend to cause problems.

I have tested a Trendnet TU-ETG 1.0, also based on the Asix GB chipset. It worked for my tests, but If you search, there is at least one report of asix GB adapters failing under load, or after running for a certain amount of time. I would suggest you test the adapter under load before putting it into production.
