I've been using Skydog for a while now, and while I wasn't happy with it at first, I've grown to really like it a lot.  Unfortunately, they were bought by Comcast (blech) and never delivered the more powerful router/firewall they promised.  This morning I woke up to the router being dead.  I threw in a crappy DLink that I had, but now I'm having some performance issues with it.  More importantly, the Skydog service offered some unique features I really need to replace.  I was on PFSense for years before going to Skydog, so maybe I can come back.

      I need:

User identification based on device.  Skydog logs new devices and lets you assign them to a user.  You can then apply filtering based on the user.  We mostly use this for the kids.
Skydog lets me assign an external DNS service (think Unlocator) to a "user".  The external DNS service then acts like the filter.

Can PFSense do these things for me?  I looked at DansGuardian in PFSense years ago and it looked like it was going to be a colossal pain to get it set up.  Building a PFSense box wouldn't be too difficult for me, but I'd like to know how I'm going to do it before I start putting parts together.

      Thanks!
