Jetway JBC373F38W-525 for 10 users

  • Hi there.

I have an office with about 10 users. They've got a cable Internet connection with 110Mbps down and 20Mbps up. Most of their usage is really simple - basic web browsing, email, etc. The only somewhat unusual thing is that their (very old) VOIP phones connect to an off-site PBX over an IPSec VPN.

We use the hardware linked below with a hard drive and 2GB of RAM to build Untangle NG boxes for small offices all the time. We're looking to use pfSense more and this is a good opportunity. Given the needs below, will this Jetway do the trick?

If not, what's the minimum specs you'd recommend?

    Thank you!

  • The similar spec'ed G03-NF99-F Jetway board I've got personal experience with, handles about 550-600Mbit/sec and 60Mbit/sec OpenVPN encrypted with AES-256-CBC so my guess would be that you should be fine with it.

  • Thank you. That's what I was hoping to hear.

I'm hoping to migrate them to another phone system in the coming weeks, so they shouldn't need the VPN connection for long.

  • If you want to use ipsec, look in the other threads first, because it seems to be broken in v2.2.3.

AES-NI module is broken, not IPsec itself. If you disable AES-NI you can use AES in P2. Or you can switch to AES-GCM without disabling AES-NI module. Will be fixed in 2.2.4 though.
