      Hi

I'll get straight to the point, I have a X700 that I've been tinkering with, and I have had pfSense working on it several times from my Fujitsu 40GB 2.5" HDD. The problem lies in that the drive just never gets detected when connected to the on board IDE 44 pin connector.  If I use a 44 pin - 40 pin adapter and connect the drive with external power to the on board IDE 40 pin connector it shows up in the bios fine and boots straight into pfSense; but the BIOS just says "No device detected" on both IDE adapters when using the 44 pin connector.

I've tried drive select jumpers, but I don't think it's them as I don't need to use them when using an adapter.

I've tested the 44 pin cable that came with the Firebox with a multimeter and all the pins pass straight through to the other side with no open circuits.

Is there anything I need to know about the 44 pin header? Does it have issues, perhaps the drive isn't receiving power?  I may have to take power from one of the fan connectors or something and use my adapter to connect the drive to the 40 pin header permanently but I was hoping to not have to do that.

      Thanks
