      hello,

i'm currently running a'n old computer with pfsense. in the near futher we would like to update the machine.
becaus our internet speed is increasing from 8Mb to 500Mb.

so i think oure pfsense box is running to the max.

      my currently setup is:
      AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
      2 CPUs: 1 package(s) x 2 core(s)
      2.1-RELEASE (amd64)
built on Wed Sep 11 18:17:48 EDT 2013

on the new machine i will update to the newest version, if i now update my internet speed is 1/4 from what i now have.
      so no update for me.

the setup is on a camping, where we only use captive portal and a proxy server to block some websites.

what should i do, build a machine my self or order a pfsense box from the store, and which one or what would be the best hardware.
      we have limited budget.

when i look at the configurater when on speed of 500+Mb you need a server class setup, in my opinion a bit overkill. but we would like to server full speed to oure customers.

so please need some advice on this one.

I have 1 machine that I use for personal use running this exact same processor:  64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+

Seems to have no problems with my fiber connection.

Why don't you install the connection first then speed test it to see if it saturates your NICs /CPU?

Then upgrade if its not up to it?
