Hi all I have searched and all signs point to this being possible but I have yet to be successful.  I am trying to move my PFSense configuration from 32bit/embedded/2nic/Alix to a 32bit/full/2nic/PC.  Has anyone had success with this and is it even possible with backup/restore?  I have no packages installed other than the core functionality of PFSense.  The config seems to be good when I restore and set the new nics, but it does nothing after this (no clues in the logs either).

Bonus Question - In future is it possible to move the full 32bit config to a 64bit one?

Both nano => full and i386 => amd64 works just fine. Best to edit the config beforehand to match the interface names (vrX => ??X)..

I will try and edit the config before I restore.  That's probably what's messing it up.  It dies right after I re-assign the interfaces using the GUI.

          Thanks!

Have you tried rebooting after this point?

I did reboot (tried several times….).  Gave up after I thought this was not possible.  I will try again tonight.

Hi All - Have an update.  I tried to transfer the config backup from Alix -> PC.  The config transfers, I change the NIC assignments.  Once the PC comes back from reboot after restore I get the "F1 Pfsense" prompt, then I get a spin or two and then freezes at "|".  PFSense boots fine and seems to be okay until I restore….

                Some more background:
                1.  The PC is a Netbook with Intel Atom.
                2.  One on board NIC and the other is a Dlink USB NIC (Which is listed as supported).
                3.  The netbook has an older Sata 1.5 controller.

Due to this older Netbook with an old SATA controller, I have to install 2.1.1, then upgrade to 2.2.3 to get it to work.  All is well until I restore the backup.  Could it be a driver or config issue?  Is it because I'm going from 3 NICs on the Alix (the 3rd NIC is unassigned on the Alix).

Any other ideas on what I can try here?
Thanks for your help so far, I am further ahead than I was before!
