Alix2d3 + squid3 + squidGuard = too slow?
-
I'm running Squid3 proxy including squidguard on an alix2d3 board (500Mhz AMD Geode w/ 256MB RAM) with an extensive block list. When I download large files with > 0,5MB/s, they get interrupted every few minutes. CPU load seems to be 100%, RAM use quite high.
Is there any chance to optimise settings or something, or is it time to upgrade, eg. to a new apu1d?
Thanks in advance.

If Snort and other packages comes on top, this would be perhaps also to slow!

This both can be done by yours! For sure, but a Atom C2x58 Board or appliance would be bringing then more
benefits on top as you will explore on the first look!- Intel Ports
- stronger and better CPU
- miniITX Format
- 1U or miniITX cases
- AES-NI & Intel QST
- SATA DOM usage
- USB 3.0
- more LAN Ports with bypass option
- PCIe slot for another PCIe card
