LoadBalance-CP still not compatible?
-
I've read some old posts that mention that Captive Portal is not compatible with loadbalance, is that still true?
thanks

Afaik yes but I haven't tested it lately. If it still applies to the recent version it means that you can't use loadbalancing/policybased routing on the captive portal enabled interface (so clients at this interface will always use WAN), however you can use it at other interfaces on the same system. That part I know for sure as I use it this way at our office.

My configuration is:
–--Wan2------
internet / loadbalance \ ---PFSense-----LAN-(CP)--
\ Failover /
----Wan1------So if I understand I can't set up CP on WAN1 or WAN2, but I can configure CP on LAN? then, will users at LAN use CP to get access to the internet?
If not posssible, what could be a solution for this?
Thanks

If it's the lan subnet that should be behind the captive portal loadbalancing won't make too much sense in this setup (unless it's working together in the newer versions). Why don't you simply test it and let us know?

OK,
I'll setup the loadbalance an check

Simple fix until the new version comes out since 1.3 is spossed to have it but for now set it up like below.
SERVER 1
INTERNET 1 & 2 -> PFSENSE -> DHCP ENABLED
THEN RUN THE LAN CABLE TO SERVER 2 IN WAN PORT
SERVER 2
INTERNET SERVER 1 TO SERVER 2 -> DHCP ENABLED -> CAPTIVE PORTALTHIS WORKS I HAVE TRIED IT.
P.S. USE ON DHCH 10.X.X.X THIS WORKS BEST OTHER WISE YOU WONT BE ABLE TO ACCESS SOME WEBSITE OK.

i have configuration like this :
WAN1
/–---------------
Internet- PFsense(LB+FO) --PFsense(CP)--LAN
------------------/
WAN2
And i set up CP on LAN & WAN and it's work OK. when i set up CP on LAN, user still can browse the web. but when it's set up on LAN & WAN the user must enter username & password first then they can browse the net.... ;D ;D ;D
