      Hello,

I am running pfSense 2.2.3 (soon to be upgraded to 2.2.4) and make heavy use of aliases for organizing IP addresses. For example, I have aliases for specific machines:

      host1: 192.168.0.1
      host2: 192.168.0.2
      host3: 192.168.0.3

I then would like to make a firewall rule that allows a group of hosts access to a resource, so I create another alias that itself references host1, host2, host3:
      myhosts: host1, host2, host3

However, when I use the "myhosts" alias in the source field of a firewall rule, it does not work (the traffic is still blocked). This used to work in 2.1.x, so it appears to be a bug or change in behavior in 2.2.x. Is it not possible to use nested aliases, or do I have something configured incorrectly?

      Thanks!

Nested aliases work fine in general. You wouldn't be able to reach this website if they didn't.

Check your table contents under Diag>Tables for that alias to verify.
