PfSense box: Intel X25-M SSD or Samsung 850 EVO SSD

Hi, Guys

I have a Intel X25-M SSD (MLC, Sata II 3g, 160Gb, used for 3~4 years, still 99% left) and a new Samsung SSD 850 EVO (SATA III 6gb, 250Gb),  Which one do you think is better for a pfSense box (Supermicro c2558) in terms of performance and reliability?

Thanks.  for latest 2.2.4,  Do we still need to manually enable TRIM for SSD?  any recent links for how to enable TRIM?  Thanks.

Intel X25-M

This drive was very popular but also very faulty, so I personally would prefer to go with an Intel SSD 530
or an older model from Samsung named Samsung840 Pro, its on of the best SSDs on the consumer market
ever and was a real winner during a SSD longtime test.

for latest 2.2.4,  Do we still need to manually enable TRIM for SSD?

Some users were reporting that the TRIM support was automatically enabled after
a fresh install, but some also were reporting that TIRM support was not enabled
using the pfSense version 2.2.4. So I would be really considering to have a look
to that option after a fresh installation if this would be enabled or not.

Thanks. I do have a Samsung 840 Pro as well, which currently was used by my ThinkPad T500.

Honestly, I wouldn't use either.  If at all possible you want a SSD with some kind of power loss protection.  The cheapest drive I'm aware of would be the Intel 320; you can pick them up on eBay fairly cheap.

Thanks. Don't want to spend money on SSDs, I already have 2 spare SSDs now :)  Regarding power loss protection, I'm not too worry about that because I connected router to UPS always.
