Errors installing to new RCC-VE 4860

Hello everyone - I'm hoping someone smarter than me can help.
My new RCC-VE 4860 just arrived. I downloaded the pfSense 2.2.4 ADI memstick (amd64) image (supposed to be specially for this machine) and successfully wrote the image to 3 different USB sticks.
When booting the machine I get to the "Press F12 for boot menu" option, and I press F12. The USB stick is the first option, so I select it. I then get the following output in the console window:

error: terminal 'serial' isn't found.
error: terminal 'serial' isn't found.The machine then goes on to boot to the pre-installed CentOS without apparent issue.
I've tried 3 different USB sticks and they all do the same thing. I've tried re-downloading the pfSense image file from different mirrors and they all do the same thing. I've tried using both USB ports on the RCC-VE and they both have the same result.
At this point I'm at a complete loss as to where to go now. I am not able to get pfSense installed on this 4860. I am currently using an APU that I was able to install pfSense to without issue, but that's the extent of my pfSense/FreeBSD experience.
Am I doing the install wrong? Did I receive a defective unit from Netgate? Any tips to point me in the right direction for further troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.

For sure I think, but would you please so friendly and tell us all where you want to install the
pfSense on? I mean on what medium? SSD, mSATA, HDD, SATA-DOM, SSD-DOM or on what
you want to install the pfSense OS? Or do you want to boot from the USB Stick with NanoBSD?To come closer to my questions where pointed to, is the following ciscumstance;
- Why do you don´t wipe the CentOS first and then you install the pfSense on the NAND storage?
- Did you change in the BIOS the boot order or queue? Fomr NAND to USB or the medium you want to install on.

This is a really false! The hardware from the netgate and pfSense store is identically
and so you should only use the ADI images, because they are tuned and pimp
to use together with the units from the pfSense & Netgate store, otherwise some tunings
must be done then by your self! So this is the worst way to go with an unit from both stores.And from me on top, it is mostly common to install more then one OS on PCs and run them
then from time to time, but on Routers and Firewalls this would be a now go for me and only
wasting space. Why not using the NAND storage soldered on board for pfSense?and they all do the same thing. I've tried using both USB ports on the RCC-VE and they both have the same result.
For sure they look in the BIOS from where to boot first and then it bots from there.

Go to the BIOS and change the boot order to USB and then try again.

How how how, on what you was able to install without any issue?
SD card, mSATA, USB Stick, SATA-DOM, SSD or HDD?

Change the boot order and teh nperhapos you should don´t try out to install two OS on the firewall device
because also the CentOS is able to reinstall on the unit! -

you should only use the ADI images
Understood. I have only used the Netgate ADI images downloaded from various mirrors at this URL: https://www.pfsense.org/download/mirror.php?section=downloads
I have also emailed Netgate support to follow up on the possibility of this being a hardware issue. At this point I just don't know how to troubleshoot this further to narrow down where the problem really lies.

Ok, this would be really interesting me. Because others were able to write the image
to an USB Stick likes you and also they were able to boot from this USB stick and install
the pfSense OS on a mSATA SSD and boot from there. Ok on a RCC-VE 2440 device but
this does not matter, its only the smaller brother of your Netgate device.I press F12 when prompted early in the boot sequence so that I can manually choose the boot device. Any time I choose the USB stick as the boot device on this menu it produces the errors before automatically moving on to the remaining boot device options.

Ok this should be even the image you should go with and not the other community images, aware of them.
- Install Putty or Kitty and change the settings to 8/n/1 & 115200 baud
- plug in the USB to console cable jump into the Board BIOS and set up for console to 8/n/1 & 115200 baud
- Then stitch in the USB stick and reboot, the console defaults of pfSense are also 8/n/1 & 115200 baud
- so you get no garbage on the screen as an output
- Try install on the eMMC storage
- PXE installation with the ADI image

Installing pfSense 2.2.2 on Netgate RCC-VE 2440 -
There was an issue with some of the early firmware. I had a sg-2440 with a old/bad firmware load. The symptoms exhibited were similar to what you are experiencing (would not boot from usb). Support gave me an updated firmware image which fixed it straight away.

Netgate support has been responsive to this issue, and they have decided to RMA the device. Thank you everyone for your assistance.
