Help installing pfsense / disk geometry problem
-
i need help for pfsense install :
When i try to install, the system reports that geometry of the disk is 19679cylinders/16heads/255sectors and that i will not enable to boot on the disk. So it's recomanded that i use the following modified geometry : 4997c/255h/16s.
But after i have a warning messagethe partition layout currently on this disk is non-standard
and after when i edit partition i have this error message :
EXECUTION OF THE COMMANDE : /bin/fdisk -v -f /tmp/new.fdisk ad0 ; FAILED with a return code of 1
In logs i have :
fdisk:WARNING line1 number of cylinders(19679) may be out-of-range (must be within 1-1024 for normal bios operation, unless the entire disk
ERROR line1: number of sector must be within (1-63)is anyone know where can be the problem?

i saw a locked post of diego canevalis who had the same probleme.
he said "The solution is, make the partitions with a freeBSD installation CD and then install the pfsense, skiping the partition wizard."how can do that? do i must make a full install of freebsd or just create partition? and just the first or the / and /swat too? and, how can i save it?
i have freebsd 6.1 -
Interpreting that advice, boot from a FreeBSD CD, partition the hard disk, then quit the installer. See if you can install pfSense on the partitioned disk.

I have the same problem with 80 GB SATA and no LBA Mode on some servers a long time ago, i have tested all of the workarounds, but nothing helps…, i have changed the HDD´s to older 6 GB and 20 GB IDE so it works as it should
