So here's my setup in a pic:

I've gotten everything setup, installed pfsense but for some reason it will only recognize the first entity I plug in, regardless of what port.

If I plug in the cable from the modem first to port 1 then my switch to port 2, it only sees the modem (re0).
If I plug in the cable from the modem first to port 2 then my switch to port 1, it only sees the modem (re0).
If I plug in the cable from the switch first to port 1 then my modem to port 2, it only sees the switch (re0).
If I plug in the cable from the switch first to port 2 then my modem to port 1, it only sees the switch (re0).

What am I doing wrong here? Do both interfaces have to be on the same network card or something?

for whatever reason, only the card with a cable in it, gets detected. you did (try) to assign both right ?

-try switching the network card to a different pci(e) slot.
        -try updating your bios.

Figured it out. It was being detected but the input text (…Up or ...down) just wasn't triggering for some reason.
