I am a newbie to BSD and pfSense.  The installation was smooth.  And in pfTop I notice very frequent activities related to UDP port 123 (ntp time sync related I believe).  It is more like several times a minute.  Is this normal?  I thought the machine only need to time sync once per day…..

Thanks for the help in advance.

Yes, frequent activity is normal. You will probably see a couple packets a minute.

It doesn't just sync up once a day - it runs the ntp daemon which constantly attempts to stay as synchronized as possible to the specified ntp server.
