Brand New SG-8860 Doesn't Work
-
Unboxed a brand new router and link lights light up but LAN doesn't give out DHCP.
So, I plugged in console cable and it boots up to a localhost login that looks like this.
CentOS Linux 7 (Core) Kernel 3.10.0-123.el7.x86_64 on an x86_64 localhost login:
So it appears the hardware is probably fine but the software needs reconfigured or reinstalled. This was supposed to be live in a customer site today so any help to get it back in working order ASAP is appreciated.

I reinstalled pfSense-memstick-ADI-2.2.4-RELEASE-amd64.img and everything is working.
Why did they choose CentOS? Does it offer performance improvements? I'm plugging this box into a 1gbps WAN with about 120 users so need it to perform the best it can.
Thanks for any advice.

I think the Netgate version ships with CentOS. Possibly just a mixup if you did order the pfSense SG8860 and not the Netgate VE8860..

You bought the RCC-VE 8860 (general purpose appliance you load whatever you want on) rather than the SG-8860 which comes pre-installed. You'll be fine loading from the ADI memstick.

Ah, OK did not realize the difference, was just trying to save a few bucks. Thanks!
