I have a VMware workstation configuration with pfsense.

Behind the pfsense firewall I have a client subnet with a windows 8.1 client.

The IP configuration of the client is fine, the default gateway points to the pfsense interface 192.168.20.100.
I am able to ping that interface as well as the other pfsense interface 192.168.1.100
(for your information, 192.168.1.100 is the WAN interface)

I am not able to ping my internet router 192.168.1.1

I am able to resolve internet addresses from the pfsense console.

What else do I need to do to get an internet connection for my Windows 8.1 client ?

Please post screens of your WAN and LAN config (Interfaces - WAN, Interfaces - LAN)

Do NOT put gateways on your LAN! It's even written in the GUI!
