Hi I wonder if you can look at my screenshots and tell me where I’m going wrong?

      1. If I trace route to a device on my wireless network from my LAN it is 2 hops away, correct.
      2. If I trace route to a device on my OpenVPN network from my LAN it is 2 hops away, correct.
      3. If I trace route to my 20Mb WAN interface it is 1 hop away, also correct.
      4. But if I trace route to my backup modem it is 3 hops away with some obvious lag with one entry appearing twice and the first hop is the cable modem attached to my WAN interface?

But if I turn logging on, on my first rule you can clearly see that the packets are correctly going out the Backup interface!

Also for some reason, to enable failover but have my WAN connection as the default I have to set gateway to the ‘Backup Failover to WAN rule’ is this correct?

I have tried flushing my states throughout testing with little or no effect on the result.

      Kind Regards

In failover pool "wan -> Backup" wan gateway should go first imo (bug in multiwan guide afaik).

          Cheers Perry,

Presumably then I should also swap them round on the other failover rule as well?
Backup -> Wan = opt1 should go first; I’ll give it a go.

Any thoughts on my other conundrum? I have tried looking under Diagnostics/Routes for a clue but I can’t make head nor tail of it.

Not really…. I can confirm the 3 hops (only a small delay though), but only when gateway is set to the failover pool. With default or load balancing the trace shows 1 hop (my cable is wan).

I don't see any double hop when tracing to remote site, do you?

To answer that I flushed my states then changed my first LAN rule so that all my pings and trace routes (All ICMP traffic) went out my backup interface flushed my states again and bugger me it is almost identical, It even has the same IP as the first hop - the IP of my WAN modem?

              I’m confused.
