ASRock AMD C-70 APU

Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to report to the community that the ASRock board I linked below does work with the newest pfSense version with no problems (2.2.4). The install worked without a hitch and does see the onboard Realtek 8111E NIC, also the CPU temp does display correctly once switched to AMD. I'm not using this board as my main unit, just as tool to test some features without causing a LAN outage. I'm using a used Intel 2x GB NIC with it as well (PCI 4x). I decided to use this motherboard since it only costs $40 USD and has a full PCI-E slot for the x4 PCI NIC (the slot is only 4x powered).

Hopefully, this will be useful to some members in the community that wish to try pfSense without breaking the bank. You could build a router with new parts (case,motherboard/cpu,psu,ram) with used 2x Intel GB NIC for under $150 on Newegg. The NIC I would advise to get on amazon or another source then upgrade later down the road with more ram and different motherboard/cpu.
Speeds: With both WAN & LAN on the Intel NICs I get around 108mbps down. Using Intel NIC for WAN and the Realtek NIC for LAN I'm able to use my full connection at around 125mbps. Could just be a setting issue or something, but good enough. Haven't completed any LAN speeds tests of yet. However, running these test only used 3% of the CPU power. So I'm sure enough that board would work perfectly as home router.

I'm debating ordering the exact same motherboard for pfsense. Have you tested it with gigabit? Curious if it will be fast enough.

I think getting the E1-2100 (Biostar) or A4-5000 (Biostar/Asrock) better, price difference not much, but E1/E4 have AES acceleration while C70 doesn't.

The GA-J1900N-D3V has been discontinued in the UK, superseded by the GA-N3150N-D3V.
