New install issue with ISO
-
The file I am downloading is pfSense-memstick-2.2.5-RELEASE-i386.img, I extract it using WinRAR to a folder with the same name as the file. I then open up ImgBurn, select the file, after about 15 seconds it comes up with the above error.
Excuse the screen shot, I was not aware it grabbed both my monitors.

Please, read this: https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Writing_Disk_Images
Rufus should write the IMG to your USB drive just fine. Don't touch ImgBurn, totally won't work.

I was hoping to extract the file so I could put it on a thumbdrive, so I could boot from it to install on the machine I have that has no DVD/CD drive in it.

doesn't even show what file your loading..
So you download the hash you like better the md5 or the sha1, then using your fav checksum too validate it..
couple for windows that come to mind are md5summer, hashtab, hashcheck
http://implbits.com/products/hashtab/
http://code.kliu.org/hashcheck/Validate the .gz file hash matches.. if not then your download was bad.. But normally if bad wont extract which you say you did.

As noted above, use Rufus with the memstick image. NOT ImgBurn or anything else intended for dealing with optical media.

Ok, now I feel like a dumbass… lol. I will go give it a try, I have rufus running, so will try it now.
Thanks
