I've spent a bit of time pondering it.

      Is it possible to:
      1. copy a hard drive installation of pfsense to a typical flash drive (via dd or something else)
      2. install grub onto a floppy disk, and set it to load the boot sector from a USB drive and expect pfsense to boot correctly
      3. setup a remote systlog server, mount /var/log as a ramdisk, and mount the root disk (USB drive) as Read Only with packages installed and running
      4. expect it to work

I know, some of the questions asked are obvious. However, I read in this forum somewhere that FreeBSD sometimes has issues with booting off USB disks.

Thanks in advance for any assistance with my questions.
