Errors upgrading to 1.2
-
Hello
I have a pfsense 1.1 box, im trying to upgrade the firmware. I have this file
pfSense-Full-Update-1.2-RELEASE.tgzHowever as soon as I click upgrade firmware the page times out and the web interface is no longer responding. I have to log in via ssh and restart the web configurator for the webpage to work again.
I left it for 30 mins incase it was doing something behind the scenes but watching "top" it wasnt.
Any ideas?
-
Problem seems to be related to firefox
I tried it in IE7 and it worked
just waiting for the reboot now.
I tried it on different computers with firefox. dont know why no one else is having this issue
-
well it kind of worked
It rebooted and now its pretty much screwed.
no webinterface. when I restart the webconfigurator i get:

Am I correct in assuming you are running an embedded version and that’s why its "failed: Read-only file system?" If so I don’t think the pfSense-Full-Update-1.2-RELEASE.tgz file is intended for upgrading embedded versions only full versions. The documentation recommends re-flashing rather than upgrading when running embedded but if you are running embedded you need the file found here http://files.pfsense.org/embeddedupdate/
-
I was running the full version on a cf card. /etc/platform was set to pfsense
I now have the firewall working, I had to reinstall from scratch and restore the config.
Im not looking forward to upgrading the master of the carp setup.

I was running the full version on a cf card. /etc/platform was set to pfsense
When running in an unsupported configuration, a re-install is your best option. You can't expect the upgrade to run smoothly if you are doing something the developers told you not to do.
-
yeah i know
its just theres no option for keyboard and vga with the embedded dist. which makes it 100% useless for me.
If the embedded one had that option i would be using it.
