Just swapped out my Draytek 2920 for a box running pfSense as the Drayteks firewall throughput at best was 130Mbps and I had two WANs - Virgin Media 150mbps & BT Infinity 25Mbps.

Slightly trickier to setup than the Draytek but well worth it!

I used a 6 year old HP DC7800 SFF PC (C2D 6550, 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD) I had lying around and bought a "39Y6136 IBM / Intel PRO/1000 PT Quad Port PCI-e Adapter" off ebay. Put it into the 16x slot and it worked straight off.

So £34 and I have a box that can do the equivalent of what a Draytek costing £300+ can do.

Going to see if I can scrounge a small SSD to use instead of the HDD.

      So again - thanks.

Glad you were able to get yourself up and running.

If you hunt around the forums you'll find a vast amount of accumulated knowledge and tips.  Some take more work than others to find, but well worth the effort IMHO.

        Welcome to pfSense  :)
