      Hello,

I have a Watchguard x550e with bios 8.1 and use pFsense embedded 2.2.5
Since recent i have the following problems :
WAN connection drops randomly, and stays offline
Sometimes after 1 hour, sometimes after 5 minutes
The only installed packages are LCDproc Dev and Shellcmd
If the WAN connection drops, the web UI does not respond anymore,
only a reboot solved the connection.
Sometimes if i disconnect the WAN and LAN cables, the problem dissapeared for max half hour
This Watchguard has work perfect with pFsense 2.2.4 , but i have justed the firewall not for a couple months,
and i decided for upgrading to pFsense 2.2.5 trough the automatic update function.
Even now with a image placing back of the pFsense 2.2.4 the problem exist.
The problem must be softwarematic, because with the Fireware 11.3.8 OS from Watchguard i experienced no problems.
Somebody got a clue what the problem could be ?

      Thanks in advance

      Grtz

when my connection drops i get the same problem most of the times what i do it i login on the pfsense box with SSH then i use option 16 restart php-fpm. Then the webgui works again.
but then i get the next "problem"
        https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=104113.0

i got a quad core cpu in my router so 1 of the cores will go
        100.00% check_reload_status
and it will stay on it till i restart the router.

          A little update.
If the WAN drops, the web UI shows that the gateway is offline,
and if i want to switch to another page in web UI is doesn't respond.
If during these WAN drops en web UI does not respond,
the only response i get is trough de serial console, where i can choose voor halt or reboot.
When i just press enter and it refreshs, then it shows no IP at the WAN interface.

I have now installed pFsense version 2.1 with no packages,
and its been stable for almost 2 hours (still testing) with no WAN drops.
I now gonna upgrade to version 2.2.5 and test without packages.
          To be continued.

I have now used Biosmod 8 (not the latest 8.1)
            pFsense version 2.2.2
ACPI disabled (default is off) in the Bios. (no cpu temp reading now in pFsense).
All ports on "Default (no preference, typically autoselect)" (Gigabit speed)
            LCDproc Dev package
            WGXepc package
            Shellcmd package

For now, it's the most stable i have seen in days.
I have tested it today for almost 6 hours, and no single drop or lockup.

Will be updated if i have got more news.

                Hi,
any news about glitches? I want to buy a 550e and make sure its running without problems. Is your setup stable until now?

                thx

                Stefan

A little update on the problem with stability.
With Bios v8.0 there is no option in the Bios for enabling ACPI, that's why i had good results with that Bios version.
But later on, i discovered that the combination of ACPI enabled and the option "interfaces" enabled, under "screens" in the package LCDprov dev was causing this stability issue.

Solution for the x550e is :

                  1. Do not check "interfaces" under "screens" in the package LCDproc dev

Solution for the x750e is :

                  1. Do not check "interfaces" under "screens" in the package LCDproc dev
                  2. Put these 2 lines in your /loader/boot.conf.local :

                  /boot/loader.conf.local

                  hw.pci.enable_msix=0
                  hw.pci.enable_msi=0

With these tweaks, i have no issues anymore with the x550e and x750e

                  Good luck

                  Grtz
