I've been working on this as a pet project for a while now. I'm using BIOS 8 and am still having a number of issues. Any help would be massively appreciated.

When transferring files to the box, it's extremely slow. (250-300 Kbps).

After about an hour the box will go "offline". I can not ping it, or connect to the web UI, but I can interact over serial; which shows nothing wrong.

I'm still running 2.1 (trying to update, but again, download takes forever). And I had to lower my MTU to 1000 to get any form of stable traffic. The MTU was lowered on the sk0 and sk 1 interfaces, as that is all I have configured at this point.

      Any ideas?

I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing here.

        Same on the MSK interfaces?

Not sure. Let me try re-assigning them.

MSK interfaces are on a PCI-e bus. SK are on PCI bus.  Could give some clues.

So I re-assigned WAN and LAN to msk0 and msk1 respectively. No change. It will hit 600KBps and then over the course of a minute fall down to the bps range.

I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing here.

If anyone is willing to have a look at this via SSH or other wise, I'll give out access to the box. I'm still learning with this stuff and I can't find a solid answer.

Do your best to describe your setup.

                  pfSense version?

Any other devices such as switches?

                  Modem type?

Anything else you can think of.  No one can read your mind here so you have to help us draw a picture in our minds.

What kind of traffic are you trying to download?  Ive got the feeling your running out of states due to a high number of connections.

What mods have you done to the Watchguard if any?  LED mod?  Followed Steves guide with the build?    ect…

Other-  are you sure you are not confusing KBPS with kbps?    KILOBYTES vs kilobits?  ISPs advertise kilobits per second.  IE shows Kilobytes per second while downloading.

Are you using a hard drive with adapter or compact flash? Take the drive out and using a separate computer reinstall the current pfSense 2.2.6. Then place drive back in firebox unit. There were multiple issue with firebox and version 2.1, such as DMA channel issues. Network driver issue as well, these were patched in the 2.2 version. Good luck.

Do you have the obligatory settings for the x-core-e and x-peak-e series set? On boot, interrupt the boot process and set these variables.

                      set hint.ata.0.mode=PIO4
                      set hw.msk.msi_disable=1

Yes. I've started another thread related to 2.2.6, which I am in the process of installing on the FB.
