I upgraded from 2.2.5 to 2.2.6. When I did so my DNS stopped working temporarily, I saw a message on the console that it wasn't able to update/reinstall packages due to DNS not working.

When the pfSense came back up and DNS started working again everything seems to be working, including all of the packages.

Do I need to manually reinstall packages after the upgrade even if things seem to be working ok?

I'd monitor it for a while to see if everything is ok. But if your system, including packages, is working then in my opinion I'd leave it well enough alone.

There are relatively few changes between 2.2.5 and 2.2.6, so reinstalling packages in that scenario would have been more a precautionary step than anything else. If everything seems to be working, I'd leave well alone.
