      Hello,

I'm a noob so bare with me!. I'm unable to get an IP for devices connected to my VLAN. I've read on the forum that some NICs won't support VLAN tagging and that I should refer to the list of supported NICs at the pfSense handbook: I couldn't find any link of supported VLAN tagging NICs

So a few more details: I'm using a mid 2012 Mac mini since a few months. Running pretty well, can't complain.

These are the details of the eth controllers:

Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM57766 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe (rev 01)
Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM57762 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe

I'm also using a Switch 8 ports (Netgear GS108Ev3 - 8-Port Gigabit ProSAFE Plus Switch)

      This is the diagram

My two devices connected to the port 1 and 2 are not getting IP at all. See more configurations below

      Switch configuration

      VLAN12 interface configuration

      DHCP server enabled for VLAN12

With all this I guess at least I should be getting an IP address, right?

      Rules for the VLAN12

ARP table with no IPs from VLAN12 granted except the interface IP itself (static)

Nothing strange (I think) on the DHCP logs

      Nothing on the DHCP leases

I have restarted both the pfsense box (2.2.6-RELEASE (amd64))  and the switch. Unless these NIC do not support VLAN tagging I'm not sure what else to try. Thanks for any info!

you need to add multiple vlans to port_8, vlan1(untagged) & vlan12(tagged)
you probably need to used the "advanced' function on your switch … while not being advanced at all, it should say 'normal'

also, have you added vlan12 to pfsense ? (i only see an interface page)

Thanks! that did it!. I thought the switch will do it "automatically" since the gateway on its configuration is set to the pfsense IP.
