      Hi  ,

i have been studying the PFsense HFSC & QOS

but i still have small question

what does the option in the HFSC GUI

Choose the amount of bandwidth for this queue
      stand for ???

i still dont understand that option

i see its default to 32 KB in the Voip queue if i do it from GUI .

Im wondering….is it upper limit ? or what  ??

      kind regards

It is link-share m2. I usually try to set the Bandwidth and link-share m2 to the same value, just for clarity.

i have an other question .
i have done  shaper wizard and gave the voip the bw guaranteed .

as far as i know , when i create the shaper rules , its no thing if its not exist in the floating rules .
so ….when i created the shaper rules i only see the Voip queue that is matching in the floating rules !!!

for my understanding ....shouldn't the main queue be matched ???

shouldn't the main queue be matched and if its matched it will match its child queues ???

my question in other side is as below :

            i uploaded the 2 images
            http://www13.0zz0.com/2016/01/18/23/843448516.png

            and
            http://www13.0zz0.com/2016/01/18/23/553979328.png

            the question is :
shoudnt the qinternet  queue (main queue) be in the floating rule ?

is there something i misunderstood ?

            kind regards

Oh, my mistake. I thought "VOIP" was a queue, not an interface.

The "Bandwidth" on an interface (which "VOIP" is) is the maximum rate (rate-limit) for that interface.

The "Bandwidth" for a queue ("qVoIP") configures the link-share m2 of HFSC.

Edit: Default queues do not need a rule because all traffic on that interface defaults to that queue.
Read the wiki & search this forum for more info.
I would avoid HFSC. For a simple VOIP setup, use PRIQ. For more control, use CBQ or FAIRQ.

and limit speed on wan to be 2 M up
and i want to have queue that satisfy my needs as below :
giveport 5060 for  out of lan to be 1 M guranteed
and  shape http to 512 K
and out the other traffic in the default quque

can u just tell me  brief steps ?

                  another question

i couldn't setup upper limit on the interface

is that limitation in ALTQ hfsc ?

is the upper limit done only in the limiter settings ?

                  kind regards

Upper-limit works fine for me. To clarify, upper-limit is a part of HFSC and only applies to queues.
The interface itself (LAN, WAN, etc) is rate-limited by ALTQ (using it's Token Bucket Regulator).

Are you sure the firewall rule is catching the right traffic?

And yes… all this shit is confusing. :)

To limit LAN just use the interface's "Bandwidth". (but I am not 100% sure I understand your intentions)
Same with WAN. Set bandwidth at interface.

Whichever interface your port 5060 will be leaving, create a wqueue there with link-share 1Mbit.
Then you want source/destination port 5060 on LAN to have minimum 1Mbit upload? Then setup a firewall rule on LAN to catch source-port or destination-port 5060 (I dunno if you want both or either) and assdign the traffic to the queue you created.

Bleh, I am tired as hell. I will be back later to possibly finish this post. :)
