Anyone have insight on why Windows clients behind NAT will not work with a pfSense L2TP/IPsec VPN server?

Or better yet does anyone know if this is something that will be fixed with a new release of pfSense?

Currently running 2.2.6 and attempting to install into a small business environment.
I got openVPN up and running no problem but L2TP/IPsec is preferred by management.

      Thanks
      Nate

It's a bug in the windows client that strongSwan won't work around. See https://wiki.strongswan.org/issues/220 for part of it, search around for more context.

If you want it fixed, advocate to the strongSwan project that it should be fixed.

Though everyone has moved on to IKEv2, which is much better all-around, so few people are still interested in working on L2TP/IPsec.
