I've just decided to upgrade from my very old PC chassis to the SG-4860 pfSense box - it's arriving Monday.  The SG4860 has a couple of USB ports - I'm wondering what these would be useful for on a firewall?  I'm just curious about them, does anyone use these?

        Congratulation.

Yes and this might be a good choice as I see it right.

Be patient and be sure this might be a good choice.

And I am pretty sure that we use them all more or less.

        • USB > Serial console
        • USB pen drive re-installation or update/upgrade
        • USB stick 3G/UMTS/HSPA/LTE modem for mobile or as a fall back case
        • USB stick for logging and storing logfiles
        • USB WLAN accessories usage
        • USB GPS devices
        • USB to LAN devices adapter
        • USB temperature logger
        • USB KVM switches

So you will see there are many cases a USB port should be fine to own.

Thanks for the reply - that sort of confirms what I'd suspected.
