      Hi.

Running 2.2.6 (i386) and all works normally fine.
But, second time now I have runned into an DHCP issue.

All of a sudden no clients get IP from the DHCP.
The log shows that two specific clients are "DHCPSDISCOVER" and then "DHCPOFFER", but this just repeats itself approx every minute.

The two clients are never "on" the network, so obviously somethings goes worng with the offering of IP to them.
Even, those two clients are the only once out of approx 20 clients, that are "DHCPDISCOVER", so there something strange going on.

Someone in my office mentioned a possibility of looping on the LAN, but I cannot figure out where that should come from.
From the Pfsense I have 3-4 networkswitches, and all of them are only directly connected to the difefrent clients. No physical loops that Iam aware of on my LAN.

Last time this happened, it helped removing an old networkswich, that of some reason seemed to "block" DHCP to work normally.
May it be that a switch malfunctioning so that it jams the DHCP from offering IP to my clients?

      Any ideas?

      Thank you in advance.

If the DHCPOFFER goes out and nothing comes back, check the clients. If they are receiving the offer and not responding, they are broken.

yeah your best best would be to sniff on the bad clients directly and validate they are seeing the offer..  And as derelict stated they are just not accepting it, there is someone odd with them.

Sounds like your dhcp server is seeing the discover and sending an offer.. So either client is not getting that offer or doesn't want to use it for some reason??

Wouldn't be looping. You're sending the offer, either the network in between is dropping it so it never reaches the client, or the client isn't accepting it. Most likely the former, could be the latter.
