Select option 13) Upgrade from console > then enter URL,

    http://snapshots.pfsense.org/FreeBSD7/RELENG_1/pfSense-Embedded-Update-1.3-ALPHA-ALPHA-20080707-1427.tgz

    Downloading firmware,
    Rebooting IMMEDIATELY,

    then,

    /boot.config: -D
    Consoles: internal video/keyboard  serial port
    BIOS drive C: is disk0
    BIOS 638kB/980864kB available memory

    FreeBSD/i386 bootstrap loader, Revision 1.1
    (sullrich@freebsd7-releng_1_2.geekgod.com, Mon Jul  7 05:57:30 EDT 2008)
    Loading /boot/defaults/loader.conf
    Unable to load a kernel!
    -
    can't load 'kernel'

Type '?' for a list of commands, 'help' for more detailed help.
    OK

Was able to update to ALPHA 1.3 running on 6.1 with this method - Guess the leap to 7 is too much.

Embedded upgrades have been broken in 1.2, chances are that they're still an issue.

Please do not cross post.  You are clearly booting a 1.2.1 image and your posting in 1.3 section!

No - I tried both upgrade paths to rule out if it was an error with just 1.2.1.

1.2 Release to 1.2.1 BETA AND 1.2 Release to 1.3 ALPHA,

Both posts are valid and in the right sections, please correct me if I'm wrong.

You got me  :D - I used the same (terminal) screenshot as the error was the same, would you like me to reproduce the error just for continuity? kind of dragging the post out though!

                Dragging it out?  Nah.

You would not believe how many times folks actually make mistakes!
