I'm testing my WAN failover, and it only works when the WAN status is "DOWN".  When the WAN status is either PENDING or UNKNOWN, the failover does not work.

I've tried the software approach by System | Routing | Gateway items to mark the gateway down.  I've also tried a reboot with the WAN cable disconnected.

Is there another way to force the WAN to actually go to "DOWN"?    Do the status messages of PENDING or UNKNOWN tell me anything?

      Thanks
      Gord

Pending or unknown means apinger's status file has no data for the interfaces. apinger can be a real pain at times, I'd suggest going ahead and upgrading to 2.3-RC given you're in that situation as dpinger has replaced apinger and it functions sanely.

Thank you for your reply.  I wasn't able to upgrade to 2.3-RC, mostly due to my (lack of) Linux skills.  I'll wait for 2.3 to be released and try again.

          Regards,

As per CMB's reply,  the upgrade to 2.3-Release has solved the problem.

            Thank you very much CMB!
